Email Archiving: A Collaborative Journey
Introduction
This panel provides insight into the current and future developments in email archiving. The five panelists will describe active email archiving developments, which collectively contribute to the broader community's efforts to build flexible, efficient services to meet email archiving challenges.
Each panelist will provide significant updates about their efforts, followed by an interactive discussion. The panelists will provide opportunities for the audience to steer the conversation so that we collectively examine the state of email archiving today while building the capacity to address real-life preservation needs.

Ruby Martinez
Email Archives Community Fellow
Ruby Martinez is the Email Archives Community Fellow and recent MS/LIS graduate from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She coordinates the Email Archives: Building Capacity and Community regrant program.
Chris Prom
Associate Dean for Digital Strategies, University of Illinois
Chris Prom is Associate Dean for Digital Strategies in the Library at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and holds a PhD in History from the University of Illinois. He is a Fellow of the Society of American Archivists and previously served as its Publications Editor and Chair of the Publications Board. He is currently directing two grant projects: Email Archives: Building Capacity and Community and Email Archiving in PDF: From Initial Specification to Community of Practice.
Stephen Abrams
Head of Digital Preservation, Harvard Library
Stephen Abrams is head of digital preservation at the Harvard Library, with responsibility for policy, strategy, and innovation regarding long-term stewardship of Harvard’s rich digital collections.
Gregory Wiedeman
University Archivist, University at Albany, SUNY

Gregory Wiedeman is the university archivist at the University at Albany, SUNY, where he oversees the University Archives and supports born-digital collecting and systems implementation.
Matt Teichman
Programming Specialist, University of Chicago Library
Matt Teichman is a Programming Specialist at the University of Chicago Library, where he writes custom software for librarians. He is also a part-time lecturer in the Master's Program in Computer science at the University of Chicago and produces and is the lead host of the Elucidations podcast.
